NaNoWriMo and the Home Education!

NaNoWriMo is not just for schools...it is your kids too!!

So, what is NaNoWriMo anyway?

NaNoWriMo stands for NATIONAL NOVEL WRITING MONTH!

You don't have to write a huge novel and for some kids, especially those with Dyslexia, this could pose major challenges. However, this is a great opportunity to build a love of writing and inspiration. Many Dyslexic's are actually writers at heart. There just needs to be the right platform to let them see their potential as well.  I'll-be-it, they probably need great editors too. But, they're story teller's!

So, let's let them tell their stories.

You may have to scribe for them or use a speech-to-text technology which will help ease them and just let their imaginations flow. Maybe you can scribe and then they can type it out later. Or type out some of it and they do the rest, etc.

Let them have the freedom of telling their story, without the pain of writing it down, getting in the way. When they say the story's out loud they may still be processing place and timing in their minds. Make sure to read back what they have said and let them self-correct. They usually can pick up what needs to be changed this way.

Use this time to encourage your children together in Community class's, or siblings to be a part of the Great Novel Writing Month!
